In June 2016 the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) Board approved the Indigo Block project, a mixed-use development adjacent to the Uphams Corner stop on the Fairmount Line. The long-vacant site at 65 East Cottage Street will be transformed into 80 rental apartments for low- and middle-income households; 9 condo homeownership units for sale at rates affordable to middle-income households; and 23,400 SF of light industrial space that will bring new jobs to the area. A new direct pedestrian connection to the MBTA platform from the site will be added, along with a community tot lot and public seating areas.
Dorchester Bay is partnering with Boston Capital, Escazu Development, and Newmarket Community Partners to develop the Indigo Block project. Davis Square Architects are the project architects.
