A Pathway to Green Careers
DBEDC was thrilled to host our first Bridges to Green Jobs cohort this month! Bridges to Green Jobs is Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) Massachusetts’ innovative program that first launched in 2022. LISC is now working with community-based organizations, like DBEDC, to become host partners of the program. This program is a vital step toward ensuring that community members have access to the training, resources, and connections they need to thrive in the fast-growing green economy.
DBEDC’s first cohort brought together a group of nine participants for two weeks of hands-on training. Through technical training, job skills training, and career exploration, this program helps to bridge the skills gap for communities that have been disproportionately affected by climate change and are underrepresented in the green jobs sector.
With industries shifting toward sustainability, careers in clean energy are more than just a trend—they are the future. While the clean energy workforce has grown by 80% in twelve years, there is a shortage of skilled workers to meet the demand for these jobs. This gap presents a vital opportunity for our community.

The green economy presents a unique opportunity for economic mobility in historically underinvested communities. The success of this inaugural cohort reinforces our belief in expanding opportunities for local residents and ensuring that they are well-positioned to take advantage of the growing green job market.
