Leyland Community Senior Housing

Applications for the 43 newly built, affordable senior housing units located at 9 Leyland Street in Dorchester are still open! The building features brand new affordable apartment rentals for older adults ages 62 and over, with onsite supportive home health services.

Columbia Crossing Development

Columbia Crossing, a project to transform the historic Dorchester Savings Bank building and adjacent lot into a mixed-use, mixed-income residential, commercial, and retail complex, received Zoning Board approval on March 14th. The project will be developed by the Preservation of Affordable Housing in partnership with DBEDC and will contain up to 48 units of income-restricted affordable rental housing.

Resident Services & Community Engagement

Rock n’ Roll Seniors

Dorchester Bay’s weekly Rock and Roll Seniors program reduces isolation and creates leadership opportunities for senior residents to design their own programming. This month, the seniors mailed out recruitment fliers for their upcoming event and played games.

Dorchester in Motion Health Pledge

In March, fourteen Dorchester in Motion meeting participants made a health pledge - a promise to themselves to live a healthier lifestyle and keep it up for at least 30 days. Many pledged to walk at least 30 minutes daily, practice yoga, self-care, and concentrate on their mental health. Their pledge cards will be mailed back to them to hold them accountable.

We're partnering with LISC Boston to bring Verizon Small Business Digital Ready to our small business network! The platform provides free courses, coaching, networking and more.

New Bay State Banner Deal!

Dorchester Bay EDC is proud to announce that we are part of a new deal to finance the Bay State Banner! The Banner is a staple of Boston's Black community, and it is an incredible honor for Dorchester Bay EDC to have had a role in this deal. The Bay State Banner, founded by journalist Melvin Miller 57 years ago, has had a long-standing commitment to be a voice and advocate for the positive development of Boston’s Black community.

This six-week program, running April 18 through May 23 and facilitated by the Small Business Development Center, will take entrepreneurs and business owners step-by-step through the process of developing a viable, funding-ready business plan.

Fairmont Indigo CDC Collaborative

Climate & Health Resident Mini-Grants

The Fairmount Indigo CDC Collaborative (FICC) is excited to release our request for proposals for Climate & Health Residents Mini-Grants! We will be giving out grants ranging from $250-$1,000 to increase resident and grassroots constituents' leadership by funding climate- and environmental- health related projects that address needs in the FICC service area (Dorchester, Mattapan, Roxbury, Hyde Park, & Roslindale).
