Reentry Program

In 2008, Dorchester Bay launched the Commonwealth’s first CDC-based reentry program for ex-offenders returning to their community. Using our organizing expertise, we have forged partnerships with the attorney general’s office, police department, house of corrections, training programs, and other non-profit service partners in this important collaborative effort. In addition, clients come to us through halfway houses, pre-release centers, and word of mouth.

Our goal is to ensure a smooth and safe reentry into the community by providing support at the prison and job readiness assistance to ex-offenders upon their release. We have served over 800 ex-offenders since 2008, about 75 new clients yearly, with an average of 55 clients finding employment each year, or accepted into a career training or GED program (over 70% success rate).
